University Medical Center of El Paso first opened its doors in 1915. Formerly known as Thomason Hospital, it is now embarking on a new century of service to the community with aggressive expansion plans that include:

• Construction of a separately licensed, 224,500 square-foot Children's Hospital
• Construction of a new Women's and Infants bed tower
• Expansion and renovation of the main hospital bed tower, creating all-private rooms
• Doubling the size of the Emergency Department
• Doubling the size of the Level I Trauma Center
• Construction of all-new ORs to accommodate cardiovascular surgery, orthopedics, general surgery and interventional procedures
• Expansion of Imaging Services
• Expansion of central plant
• Construction of additional neighborhood healthcare centers
• Expansion of existing neighborhood healthcare centers
